Maltodextrin is a non-sweet, nutritive saccharide, a mixture of polymers. This is a low hydrolysis product between sweetener and starch.  It has a lower dextrose equivalent that gives lower solubility and higher viscosity. Maltodextrin is commonly used as sugar replacement, fat replacer, bulking agent, thickener, emulsifier, and as carbohydrate.
